The standalone 2017 Hyundai Accent Sport takes bits of both of the existing variants, and combines them into a punchy and affordable offering in the light car class. Shame it's feeling its age.

Hatchback buyers will be sad to know that the 2018 Accent will only come as a sedan. Mike Evanoff, product planner for small cars at Hyundai Motor America, revealed that 75 percent of Accent buyers bought the sedan and only 25 percent opted for the hatchback.

I've got the 5 dr Hyundai 2013 hatchback. The rain gutter/raised bar on the outside of the car's rack attachment does seem to hold the mounting pieces away from being flat on the top of the car - I'm a bit concerned about how far the bolts were able to screw into the top of the car and any durability/integrity loss as a result.
Like the outgoing Accent, the new model comes as a hatchback or, as with my tester, a four-door sedan. Four trim levels are available, starting with the base L, which comes only as a hatchback and strictly with a six-speed manual transmission, at $14,599.
